Thanks to the support of the Associated Students of CSU, Chico, Adventure Outings has grown into a vibrant outdoor recreation and education program for our students and the wider Chico community. Adventure Outings has grown to host on-average 60 trips per year, and be home to several on-campus offerings including the Equipment Room at the Wildcat Recreation Center, the Climbing Wall, and the Bike Hub at the Bell Memorial Union. This year, Adventure Outings is celebrating 40 years of adventuring together with Adventure Outings! This course is taught by Mountain Training Network.DescriptionAre your wilderness medicine protocols on the tip of your tongue or in the bottom of your pack? This 3-day scenario-based course is designed as review and practice of evacuation and decision making guidelines. It also provides current updates in the wilderness medicine field.There will be a written examination at the beginning of this course.Learning takes place both in the classroom and in outdoor settings regardless of weather conditions. You must be 16 years old to attend this course.Certification: Participants are required to pass both written and practical examinations to obtain WFR and CPR recertification. Successful course completion earns you an Adult & Child CPR certification and a Wilderness First Responder certification. WEMTs will earn a Wilderness EMT certification. All certifications are current for two years.Recertification: This course may be used to recertify Wilderness Advanced First Aid, Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness EMT (wilderness portion only) certifications. You must possess a current WFR certification of at least 70 hours to recertify through a WFR Recertification course.
